In July 2021, Ubisoft presented us with XDefiant, a multiplayer shooter, which took over several things from its Tom Clancy licenses, all in first person view. This allows for a customizable experience, including special classes and factions, so you can find a way to play that works for you. These factions (Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners and Echelon) are also made up of iconic characters, the Defiants. Each player can choose a class, a main and secondary weapon, an accessory and a device, and it will be possible to modify them during the fight. The gunplay was announced, at the time, quite intense.
A few months later, and probably after some changes to the game, Ubisoft came back to us to announce that a new series of tests were going to take place. Named “Insider Sessions”, they allow those registering on the official site, as for the first tests of XDefiant at the time, to have a chance of being selected. This time around, those trials will begin as early as March 15, and are open to PC and console players.
These sessions will be an opportunity for you to take advantage of the features under development and to give us feedback. In addition, you will be able to discover factions inspired by games coming out of the Tom Clancy universe.
Of course, a confidentiality agreement must be respected if you participate. The first invitations will be sent on March 15, but others will be sent later, since Ubisoft intends to increase the number of players. So watch your emails so you don’t miss out.
Along with this announcement, we learn that the shooting game loses its name Tom Clancy, to simply become XDefiant.
No release date has yet been announced, but we should know a little more in the coming months. XDefiant will be available free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series.
