Xenia von Sachsen faces some small and big challenges in this year's "jungle camp". It quickly becomes clear in the program that these are nothing compared to the hurdles in her previous life: she was suffering from bone cancer, had a brain tumor and is almost blind in one eye.

When Xenia von Sachsen, 34, talks about her childhood, the "jungle show" participant describes a path of suffering that many can hardly imagine. The actress was born in the sixth month, was considered premature birth. A start in life that still affects you today.

Xenia von Sachsen is almost blind in one eye

Due to the premature birth, she is almost blind in one eye and almost deaf in one ear, says Xenia. "You grow in there, let's put it that way," says the 34-year-old bravely. But these are not all the health challenges she has had to face so far: At the age of ten, Xenia was diagnosed with bone cancer and doctors found a malignant tumor in her head. "The chances of survival were very low at the time because it attacked the entire head section," says Iris von Sachsen's daughter, 65.

The tumor continued to grow. An operation was only possible at the age of 21 – the 34-year-old now had "half of the skull plate removed". Afterwards Xenia von Sachsen was in a vegetative state for some time.

When talking about her illnesses, the princess shows herself strong, speaks quickly and objectively about the time. Why is that so? "I was ten years old and that's why I got along with it, you don't know it any other way."

The first jungle test is over

There are still screws in her skull today. With such a résumé, the exams of the "jungle show" that is taking place in Germany this year due to the pandemic seem more than feasible. The Princess of Saxony passed her first exam on Tuesday (January 26th) and had to leave the show. "I'm a Star – The Great Jungle Show" always runs from 10:15 pm on RTL or anytime on TVNOW.
