Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Scenario, development… new details revealed

The latest Nintendo Direct saved the best for last with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 thanks to a trailer as intriguing as it is enticing. Shortly after its broadcast, the Monolith Soft studio gives more details on what we could see. Here’s everything you need to know about this new Xenoblade.

Stronger ties to Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2?

Thanks to the official Nintendo website, the director of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Tetsuya Takahashi, gives us more details on this now highly anticipated sequel. First thing is that, as its release period indicates, the development of the title is in its final stretch : “ We are currently working on making the final adjustments to make it the best possible game thanks to what we have learned from previous games. We can understand by this that the software will probably run much better than Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which had some technical issues.

The shattered sword of Mekonis and the remains of the Urayan titan are both present in the game’s visuals. I imagine that those who saw the trailer were surprised by this final scene. In fact, as we mentioned earlier, this third opus seems to make a lot of connections with the two previous ones even if we are obviously not told everything to preserve the suspense. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be a future after some kind of merging of the worlds of Xenoblades Chronicles 1&2 : “ Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an all-new adventure that brings together the worlds of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and transports players into the future. There are still a few months until the game is released and we hope you can’t wait to discover it”.

It was visible on the trailer, but we have confirmation that Masatsugu Saito is back for the chara-design of the characters after his work on the 2nd episode. Looking closely, we can also detect two characters already seen on previous titles despite the faces hidden by masks.

Regarding the soundtrack, we can still expect musical nuggets since we find Yasunori Mitsuda (who also participates in the music of the remaster of Chronocross announced during the last Nintendo Direct), Manami Kiyota, ACE (TOMOri Kudo, CHiCO), Kenji Hiramatsu and Mariam Abounnasr.

Music also seems to have a special place in this new Xenoblade since the passages to the flute are legion on the trailer even if we do not yet know what that really means.

The first elements of the scenario of Xenoblade Chronicles 3

If we put together the official information with what we observe in the trailer, we know that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes place in the world of Aionios presented as the cradle of Keves and Agnus two nations at perpetual war which reminds a bit of the Bionis / Mekonis conflict of the first opus. Keves is a nation where mechanical technology is highly developed, hence the huge robots in the trailer reminiscent of the Mekons. Agnus is a nation that uses ether, a magical technology that allows you to wield different energy weapons.

With this context in place, we will follow the destiny of 6 soldiers from these two nations who will learn to overcome their differences to achieve a more just cause it seems. This will give us the opportunity to explore many places that will amaze you.

In any case, we can’t wait to find out more, but the wait won’t be very long in the end since Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be released next September exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
