The Xiaomi 12 has been available in the home market of China since December. Europe and the rest of the world will have to be patient. It will probably be a few weeks before Xiaomi launches the new flagship models in this country. Now a new leak may sweeten the waiting time a little, because apparently the manufacturer still has big plans.
As Gizmochina reports, DigitalChatStation commented on Xiaomi’s future plans on the Chinese short message service Weibo. The usually well-informed insider hints at a new model and a further development in terms of chipset.

Is Xiaomi working on a further development of the 12 Pro?
According to the note, Xiaomi is working on a “derivative” of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which is said to be equipped with a new chipset. The designation of the chipset is SM8475 and appears to refer to a further development of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which bears the model name SM8450.
The model name makes it clear that it could be a version of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. According to Digital Chat Station, the new phone will be developed under the project name “Model L2s”. The Xiaomi 12 Pro was previously developed under the project name L2. It is therefore conceivable that the new mobile phone will be based on this.
