The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro will be unveiled tomorrow alongside another model, the Xiaomi 12X, which will remain exclusive to China. The most expensive Pro model has already seen its design and technical sheet leaked on the Chinese social network Weibo. As we could see from the first stolen photos of the smartphone, the Xiaomi 12 Pro takes the design of the classic Xiaomi 12 well, but with more imposing photo sensors.

The smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, and will be launched with the manufacturer’s new MIUI 13 overlay. This one will especially bring more fluidity to the operating system, and improve the compatibility of applications with tablets.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is smaller than the Xiaomi Mi 11

According to the technical sheet of the smartphone, Xiaomi has reduced the size of its flagship. Indeed, the Xiaomi 12 Pro will be equipped with6.73-inch 2K (3200 x 1400 pixels) display, a little less than the 6.81 inches of its predecessor. The screen will be provided by Samsung, and it will use the technology LTPO 2.0 which allows you to dynamically vary the refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, as well as technology AMOLED E5 which promises reduced energy consumption. The slab would also offer a maximum brightness of 1500 nits.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro would measure 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.16 mm for its glass version, and 163.6 x 74.6 x 8.66 mm for the version with vegan leather. They weigh 205 grams and 204 grams respectively. For its part, the Xiaomi 12 will have a more compact format with its 6.28-inch screen. The latter will be provided by TCL, not Samsung, but will offer a similar quality.

The datasheet also reveals that the Xiaomi 12 Pro will use 3 sensors of 50 MP in the back. We will find a 1 / 1.28 inch Sony IMX707 main sensor with 1.22 micron photosites. It is a derivative of the famous IMX700, used in high-end Huawei smartphones. He will be accompanied by a Samsung JN1 ultra wide-angle sensor and a JN1 telephoto lens offering 2X optical zoom. As a reminder, Samsung launched its JN1 sensor last summer, it is the smallest 50 MP sensor on the market with photosites of only 0.64 microns. It should therefore not particularly shine for low light shots. For its part, we know that the Xiaomi 12 will use a 50 MP IMX766 main sensor, the same as that of OPPO Find X3 Pro. The selfie part will be provided by a 32 MP sensor.

Autonomy side, the Xiaomi 12 Pro will have to be content with a 4600 mAh battery. That’s less than the 5,000mAh battery in the previous year’s model, but runtime should be similar thanks to more power-efficient components. As Xiaomi unveiled a few days ago, the battery will be compatible with 120 W wired fast charging, and this will be managed by the new Surge P1 home chip. Charging should be a little slower than current models like the Xiaomi 11T Pro, as the smartphone will only use one group of cells. In particular, this allows it to be thinner and lighter than previous models.

We will also find the fast wireless charging with a power of 50 W and the 10 W reverse fast charge. Finally, the Chinese manufacturer has just unveiled on social networks that the sound part will always be provided by stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon.

Pricing and availability

The Xiaomi 12 Pro will be available in China from tomorrow, Tuesday December 28, 2021. It will launch in four colors: blue, black, pink and green. The last green version will be quite special, since it will replace the Gorilla Glass Victus glass on the back with a vegan leather.

Regarding the price, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro was launched in China last year from 3699 yuan (512 euros). Xiaomi should therefore keep a fairly similar price. The Chinese manufacturer could even reduce the price of the classic Xiaomi 12 since it is a compact model that would directly compete with the Galaxy S22.
