Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro: the choice between Qualcomm and MediaTek chips?

An Ultra version of the Xiaomi 12 is expected, and it may not arrive on its own. Indeed, it is rumored that S and S Pro models would be in the cards to replace the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro released a little earlier this year.

Xiaomi would not intend to let its Ultra model go out on its own. To accompany it, two 12S versions would be included, taking up the design of the Xiaomi 12 while including the new photo dimension brought by Leica, as well as performance worthy of the top of the range.

According to one of many leakers who scrutinize the Chinese brand, the next two models from Xiaomi will ship the best in terms of processor. Indeed, the 12S version would be delivered with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, while the one stamped Pro could have two versions. One would be delivered with the same SoC from Qualcomm, the other with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000. For RAM and storage, the various information mentions 8/128 GB or 256 GB configurations as well as 12/512 GB. It is also specified that at least one of these models will benefit from a fast charge at 120 W – even if it is not impossible that all three are equipped with it.

The implementation of the partnership between Xiaomi and Leica should materialize on these Xiaomi 12S, which was confirmed in May by a stolen photo circulating online. The mention of the German manufacturer already appeared on the photo island, leaving little room for doubt. If we do not yet know the extent of the photographic capabilities of these two upcoming smartphones, it is likely that we will find equipment close to that of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, with Leica processing in addition.
