An anonymous source sent us a snapshot of the Xiaomi 12T Pro, one of the two high-end smartphones that will arrive in September. On the back of the smartphone, we notice that the Xiaomi 12T Pro inherits the design of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. However, the main photo sensor is more protruding than the others.

The text next to the cameras confirms thatit is indeed a 200 megapixel photo sensor, as indicated in previous reports. Xiaomi is however not the first to equip a smartphone with such a sensor, since the recent Motorola Edge X30 Pro launched in China a few days ago was the first to have a 200 MP sensor.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro will be well equipped with a 200 MP photo sensor

The 200 MP photo sensor on the back of the Xiaomi 12T Pro could be a Samsung ISOCELL HP1, the first sensor of this type which was launched by the Korean giant last year. This sensor provides 0.64 µm individual pixels for 1/1.22 inch size.

It can not only take 200 megapixel shots with a huge definition of 16.384 x 12.288 pixels, but also 50 megapixel photos with 1.28 µm pixels thanks to Pixel Binning. The camera is even capable of capturing 12.5 megapixel photos in low light, but it’s unclear whether Xiaomi will offer all these modes on its smartphone. The sensor would support 8K at 30 FPS, but 60 FPS is still not in the game.

Since then, Samsung has also launched a smaller 200 MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor, this one being aimed at mid-range smartphones. The Korean giant is even preparing a brand new HP2 sensor, according to leaker Ice Universe, which could be used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra from 2023.

What do we know about the rest of the Xiaomi 12T Pro technical sheet?

Apart from the 200MP sensor, the specs of the Xiaomi 12T Pro are expected to be identical to the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, which launched alongside the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 last week. Indeed, the Xiaomi 12T Pro (code name editing) recently appeared on Xiaomi’s database with the model number 22081212UG (global), while the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition bears the number 22081212C (China).

The Xiaomi 12T Pro would therefore be powered by the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which Xiaomi has already used in its Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra. The device will be equipped with a 6.67-inch LTPO 2.0 120Hz AMOLED flat screen special, since it offers an unusual definition of 1.5K (1220 x 2712 pixels). The smartphone is powered by a 5000mAh battery compatible with the 120W fast chargingbut we will not be entitled to wireless charging.

On the photo side, we will therefore find the 200 MP sensor, which will replace the Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor of the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. Moreover, the leaker WHYLAB has unveiled a page on Weibo with information relating to the components of the smartphone which clearly indicates that Xiaomi has already tested a 200 MP sensor on the device. He will be supported by a 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor as well as by a 2 MP macro sensor. No partnership with Leica is on the program for this model, Xiaomi preferring to reserve this for its flagship models.

When it comes to pricing, we can expect the Xiaomi 12T Pro to be relatively affordable for a smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. According to leaker @_snoopytech_, the smartphone will be marketed from 849 euros in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It will take 649 euros for the classic Xiaomi 12T. 3 colors will be available: blue, silver and black.
