Are you hungry for convertible Windows 11 tablets, but the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and Huawei MateBook E did not meet your expectations? Xiaomi may have the product for you. Announced this Tuesday, June 21, the Xiaomi Book S is a Windows 11 2-in-1 PC that relies on versatility and autonomy based on an ARM processor: the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 from Qualcomm. Equivalent to some Intel Core i5s, this chip is no longer very fresh. Its replacement, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, was actually announced in December 2021 and is already on board some products, like the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, launched last month.

That said, Xiaomi seeks above all to offer a good equipment / price ratio with this product which will arrive in Europe on June 30 from 699 euros, excluding keyboard and stylus… which are (as often) sold separately.

A rather well-balanced Windows tablet?

Without revolutionizing the sector, or venturing to offer an OLED panel like its competitors Huawei and Asus (on the VivoBook 13 Slate in particular), Xiaomi is content with a well-made IPS panel. This 12.4-inch touchscreen benefits from a WQHD+ definition (2560 by 1600 pixels) and a 16:10 ratio. Xiaomi also mentions a maximum luminance of 500 nits for this small LCD panel and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum.

For the rest, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 (engraved in 7 nm) will be coupled with 8 GB of DDR4 at 3200 MHz. There will also be 256 GB of SSD storage and a 38 Wh battery supposed to allow a maximum of 14 hours of autonomy according to Xiaomi. Of course, this will have to be verified in a test. The first 2-in-1 tablet from the Chinese manufacturer will also be able to count on an ultra-compact 65 W charger thanks to the use of gallium nitride (GaN).

The Xiaomi Book S finally has two cameras: a first of 13 Mpx on the back and a second of 5 Mpx on the front, for video exchanges. The tablet is limited for the rest to 285 x 190.5 x 8.6 mm for 720 grams. It is therefore a little more compact than its main competitors.

The Xiaomi Book S is sold at 699 euros, with an introductory price of 599 from June 30.
