A tiny cube just over 10cm on a side and less than 4cm high. Inside, a Core i5-1240P and 16GB of RAM should guarantee decent performance for this kind of computer.

We told you earlier this month about Xiaomi’s desire to launch a mini-PC, which was to be presented at the same time as the new 13 series smartphones, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. A few days behind schedule, the Chinese company has actually unveiled its first mini-PC, the Mini Host.

Core i5, 512 GB, 16 GB RAM

With its weight of 437 grams and its dimensions of 112 x 112 x 38 mm, i.e. a total case volume of 0.44 L, this mini-PC does not usurp its name. It is even more compact than the MSI Cubi 5 M10 that we had the opportunity to test.

Xiaomi opted for an Intel Core processor of 12e generation (Alder Lake) to equip his computer. As often, it is a processor initially intended for laptops: the Core i5-1240P.

This 28 W chip from PBP (Processor Base Power) has 12 cores and 16 threads (4 P-cores and 8 E-cores). It reaches a Turbo frequency of 4.40 GHz on the Performance cores and 3.3 GHz on the Efficiency cores. The Iris Xe iGPU has 80 compute units clocked at 1.3 GHz.

Although this Core supports DDR5 memory, Xiaomi preferred DDR4-3200 RAM, probably for cost reasons. At least the firm did not skimp on the quantity, installing 16 GB.

Finally, in terms of storage, the mini-PC offers 512 GB, via an NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD which should guarantee quite decent performance.

Everything you need for connectivity

Connectivity is well provided with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 2.5 GbE port, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 Type-A port and a pair of HDMI ports. Note however that Xiaomi mentions the 2.1 standard but a bandwidth of 18 Gbit/s, but this bit rate corresponds to HDMI 2.0.

For wireless, the Xiaomi Mini Host manages Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connections.
