Night mode compresses dynamics

According to the press release, three full-frequency loudspeakers and three tweeters do their job inside the soundbar. The Chinese manufacturer has not given any technical details about them. Xiaomi puts the maximum output power at 430 watts. The soundbar supports the sound formats DTS Digital Surround, DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio in order to accompany films and games with a lot of oomph. The device has a so-called night mode. If it is activated, it compensates for volume fluctuations within a film using dynamic compression. That way, you don’t have to rush to reach for the remote control when something blows up in an action flick with loud crashes and dramatic music.

Many more sound options

On top of that, Xiaomi’s gadget supports six other audio modes for different media content and situations. According to the manufacturer, ready-made sound profiles are available for playing movies, music, video games and news. A standard mode is the compromise solution for every situation and the AI sound mode automatically determines which of the available sound settings is currently the best. You can connect the Xiaomi Sound Bar 3.1ch to the respective sound source either via HDMI, USB or optical cable or wirelessly. According to the manufacturer, the setup is particularly simple and can be carried out quickly. In addition to Bluetooth, a wireless connection via NFC is also possible. If you don’t want to put the soundbar on the shelf or on the TV table, you can optionally mount it on the wall using the bracket supplied.
