Xiaomi would be at work on two mini desktop PCs. The first is still quite mysterious, but could be powerful, while the second would partly take up the look and concept of Apple’s Mac mini.
After having ventured with some success, but in a limited way (in China only), on the laptop market, Xiaomi is now working to make a small place for itself in the desktop PC market. We learn from posts recently published on the Chinese social platform Weibo that the firm would have two Mini-desktop PCs in the making.
As reported GSMArena, the first seems for now to respond to the name of Xiaomi Host Mini-PC. It would be in the state of a compact machine reminiscent in certain aspects of the NUC launched by Intel. The second, obviously called Xiaomi Mini-PC, would be inspired quite strongly by Apple’s Mac mini. The two products were to be unveiled on December 1 during an event that Xiaomi finally preferred to postpone following the death of Jiang Zemin, former Chinese president.
Two Desktop Mini-PCs only launched in China?
The design of the Xiaomi Host Mini-PC has leaked before the time through a few shots. We discover a productbarebonesstripped of its main components. In this case, the device is content on these images with a 100 W power supply… and nothing else inside the case. It’s a safe bet that Xiaomi will not sell its Mini-PC in this form, and that its components will simply be announced later.
It’s hard to know exactly what to expect in these conditions, but we should find a motherboard in Mini-ITX format. There is also a slot for a dedicated graphics card ( low profile,half – heightWheredual slot). This GPU slot suggests that the Xiaomi Host Mini-PC would not be limited to a single configuration with a 100 W power supply. Other models with more muscular power supplies should logically be offered to meet the power needs of a card. dedicated graph.
We also discover that Xiaomi would have the idea of reusing the Windows + M command on its own (normally used to reduce all the windows displayed). It is unclear, however, what use would be made of it. In the same way, it is impossible at this stage to say what the mechanical button visible at the back of the chassis will be used for.
Fortunately, we know more about the Xiaomi Mini-PC (visual at the top of the article). It would a priori be equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor: a low-power chip (45 W) that is usually found on gaming laptops, includes a Radeon 680M RDNA2 graphics part. This chip would in this case be coupled with 16 GB of RAM and would finally have a 512 GB SSD. On the price side, it would be necessary to bet on 3999 yuan, or just under 550 euros excluding taxes.
