A recent report from the Chinese site 36kr reveals that Xiaomi’s electric car will be equipped with a Qilin battery developed by the CATL company. The latter will greatly boost its autonomy, which could thus reach 1000 km in a single charge. Another version, less high-end, will also be offered.
It has now been almost a year since Xiaomi formalized the upcoming arrival of its electric car. However, it is still relatively discreet, despite a release scheduled for next year. Very little information has reached us about it, forcing aficionados of the manufacturer to stay on the lookout for the slightest leak. Good news: one of them has just slipped through the cracks.
This one comes straight from the Chinese site 36kr, reveals to us that the “Xiaomi Car” could be released in two versions, which would be distinguished from each other by their respective batteries. The first of these would be an LFP (for “Lithium Iron Phosphate”) Blade from manufacturer BYD. If this name means something to you, it’s normal: the firm uses a technology also taken over by Panasonic which promises to considerably increase the autonomy of electric cars.

Up to 1000 km of autonomy for the electric car signed Xiaomi
But it is especially the second version that interests us today, since it will carry a battery signed CATL, called Qilin. The latter is based on NMC technology, which has the particularity of integrating cells directly into the chassis of the car. This innovation allows an exceptional leap in the field of autonomy, since we are talking about about 1000 kilometers in a single charge.
What make Tesla tremble, especially since this battery could 10% to 80% energy in just 10 minutes. As a reminder, the Tesla Model S Grande Autonomie offers a range of 652 km, while the Model 3 Performance peaks at 530 km. However, Xiaomi’s car will not be the first to cross the 1000 km mark, since the Nio ET5 already caused a sensation at the end of last year by already offering this performance.
