Xiaomi expands its range of projectors
with the Mi Smart Projector 2, a compact product that will be marketed in France by the end of the month for 599.99 euros.
It should not, however, be confused with the Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro, launched last May, since the two devices do not box in the same category.
A compact projector with Android TV
To begin with, the Smart Projector 2 is a featherweight compared to its predecessor, with only 1.3 kg on the scale, compared to 3.7 kg for its predecessor. Same story about the dimensions, with smaller measurements (115 × 150 × 150 mm, against 215 x 201 x 143 mm). Closer to the transportable pico-projector, the Mi Smart Projector 2 can therefore easily slip into any room of the house.
Despite its small format, it still offers a nice technical sheet, in particular relying on a DMD chip from Texas Instruments with a Full HD image of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels via a LED light source with a power of 500 lumens. A very correct brightness, but which will not however allow you to take advantage of HDR10 . In addition, the compact projector can display an image ranging from 60 to 120 inches, knowing that it embeds an autofocus system with omnidirectional trapezoidal correction.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 is powered by Android TV and can access the various SVoD platforms (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+) and video game streaming platforms. It also integrates the Google Play Store, the Google Assistant via a shortcut and a microphone on the remote control as well as a dual 5W speaker with support for Dolby Audio and DTS sound. For the rest, there is an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB 2.0, an audio output jack, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
