Xiaomi has just lifted the veil on two new smartphones that will shake the competition in the mid-range, the Poco F4 5G and Poco X4 GT 5G. These two models seem to offer a very solid technical sheet for a fairly contained price.
We had been hearing about the Poco X4 GT for several weeks now, but especially the Poco F4, which had already been taken in hand before its launch. The two smartphones have finally been formalized, and we now know everything about these new devices which intend to overshadow their competitors in the mid-range segment.
The Poco F4 is the direct successor to the famous Poco F3
As we expected, the Poco F4 is finally almost a renamed version of the Chinese Redmi K40s, and improves certain aspects of its predecessor, the Poco F3, while retaining a good part of its technical data sheet. Thus, for example, we always find the same processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 870or even the6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display which reaches a maximum brightness of 1300 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 glass.
The smartphone is also still powered by a slightly smaller 4500 mAh battery, but the power of charging has been increased to 67 W. The Poco F4 also offers the new Bluetooth 5.2 standard, Wi-Fi 6, and even stereo speakers.
The differences are mainly in the photo, since the smartphone is now entitled to a more efficient configuration with three cameras. The main sensor goes to 64 MP (f / 1.79) and finally has optical image stabilization (OIS). This should in particular allow it to offer sharper shots in all light conditions, but also better stabilized videos. It is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2) as well as a 2 MP (f / 2.4) macro sensor. The selfie part is always provided by a 20 MP camera (f / 2.4).
The Poco X4 GT is all about performance
The Poco X4 GT is based on the Chinese Redmi Note 11T Pro, and is aimed primarily at gamers. It makes some concessions in some areas to focus on performance, like the Poco F4 GT did before it. The smartphone is powered by a processor MediaTek Dimensity 8100 engraved in 5 nm, which is normally only found on more expensive devices. This can easily exceed 800,000 points on AnTuTu, which makes the Poco X4 GT the most powerful device in its segment.
The Poco X4 GT is equipped with a 6.6-inch FHD+ 650 nits LTPS LCD display. No OLED on these models, Xiaomi preferred to favor fluidity with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It is powered by a larger 5080 mAh battery, and it is also compatible with 67 W fast charging. Unfortunately, still no fast charging in this segment.
On the photo side, we find a configuration with three cameras, with a 64 MP GW1 main sensor of 1/1.72 inch without OIS, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2 MP macro sensor. The selfie part is provided by a 20 MP camera. The smartphone has the advantage of being equipped with a 3.5 mm jack, unlike the Poco F4.
Prices and availability
The Poco F4 will be available in its version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage from 399.90 euros. A version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage will also be offered at 449.90 euros. Customers will have a choice of three colors: Night Black, Moonlight Silver and Nebula Green. It is important to note that the Poco F4 will benefit from a special launch offer from June 27 1:00 p.m. to July 2since the versions will be offered at 50 euros less, i.e. respectively 349.90 euros and 399.90 euros.
For its part, the Poco X4 GT is also available in black, gray and blue in two versions, 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage. It will be necessary to count 379.90 euros for the first, and 429.90 euros for the second. Like the Poco F4, the Poco X4 GT benefits from a lower launch price, with a consequent reduction of 80 euros. The smartphone will be like this available from July 4 1:00 p.m. to July 9 for 299.90 euros or 349.90 euros depending on the version chosen.
Poco also announces that with any purchase of one of the two smartphones, customers will benefit from the premium after-sales service, which offers a s6 months free screen repair service after purchase.
