Redmi Note 10: crazy price development
The price development started as usual. In between, the Redmi Note 10 was even in the range of 150 euros. But with the poor availability, the prices rose noticeably and dealers hit a lot on it. The development is somehow reminiscent of Xiaomi’s top model Mi 11 Ultra, the price of which exploded before it was sold – only worse.

At the end of 2021 there were sometimes no offers below 345 euros! In the first quarter of 2022, the situation eased and the price fell below 190 euros again. The Redmi Note 10 can again be seen as a price tip. So far, no device has received a better rating for less than 200 euros. The successors of the Redmi Note 11 series should make a contribution to the price development.
Redmi Note 10 with a bit of IP
The Redmi Note 10 is 74.5 millimeters (mm) wide, 160.5 mm long, 8.3 mm thick and weighs 179 grams. The front is covered with Gorilla Glass 3, which only scratched a test pen with a hardness of 7. The back is made of plastic, which turned out to be not particularly scratch-resistant in the laboratory with a hardness of 3. The slightly larger Note 10 Pro is equally robust on the front and back (hardness 7). The Note 10 is protected against splash water according to IP53. However, IP53 is a rather low protection class and states that although the smartphone is protected against dust and liquids, it is still not really waterproof. So you shouldn’t submerge it. So far, only the Mi 11 Ultra has come with an IP68 certification from Xiaomi. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the Redmi Note 10. Alternatively, unlock via face recognition, which, as is usually the case with a solution using only a front camera, can be outwitted with a little handicraft work and a good photo.

When it came to sharpness, there was hardly anything to complain about in the first Redmi models. Even the cheap devices came with Full HD Plus displays, but as LCDs. That’s not bad, but in a direct comparison, an OLED offers the stronger picture. The Redmi Note 10 scores as one of the first Redmi cell phones ever with an unusually crisp picture with a large viewing angle. In addition, the laboratory determined a very good brightness of 926 candelas per square meter. The Note 10 Pro even got 1,001 and offers a smoother display with twice the screen refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Due to the smaller diagonal (6.43 inches = 16.3 centimeters) with the same resolution (2400×1080), the inexpensive Redmi Note 10 has better sharpness (410 ppi) than the Redmi Note 10 Pro (6.67 inches; 395 ppi). ). 48 MP quad camera
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 has a quad camera with up to 48 megapixels. The Redmi Note 10 Pro (rear) has 108 megapixels.
The main camera (f/1.79) has a resolution of up to 48 megapixels (MP). In standard mode, 4 pixels are combined at a time, resulting in a 12 MP photo. There is also an 8 MP ultra wide-angle lens (118 degree angle of view; f/2.2), a 2 MP macro lens (f/2.4) and a depth sensor (2 MP). The front camera (f/2.45) has a resolution of 13 MP. In the test lab, the Redmi Note 10 did surprisingly well and received an overall rating of 2.2 for the camera. The test with four times the magnification (grade: 3.7) and recordings in poor light (grade: 3.1) certainly had weaknesses, but the Redmi Note 10 even outperformed the better-equipped Redmi Note in daylight recordings (grade: 1.4). 10 Pro behind (grade: 1.9). And although the Pro performed slightly better in the vision test, the small Note 10 won the camera chapter with its low shutter lag (16 ms) compared to the 108 MP camera in the Note 10 Pro (702 ms). In the end it was the speed and the quality of the day. In low light, the Pro was slightly better. When it comes to the front camera, there is practically no difference. Both take decent selfies, with room for improvement in poor lighting.

Redmi Note 10: speed please
In the Redmi Note 10, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 in connection with an Adreno 612 graphics unit ensures speed. The eight-core processor clocks at a maximum of 2.2 gigahertz and was manufactured using the 11-nanometer process. The Pro (Snapdragon 732G) was better in terms of processor power. In Geekbench 5 Multi-Core, the difference was still manageable with 1763 to 1685 points. In the 3D Mark Sling Shot, which is more relevant for games, the Pro was able to set itself apart more clearly with 3,790 to 2,342 points, so that the Redmi Note 10 got a 3.2 for the working speed and the Pro got a 3.0. There was a similar difference in the operating speed, which is more important in practice. The Redmi Note 10 can be operated quickly, the Redmi Note 10 Pro is a bit faster – in grades: 1.9 to 1.8.

The Redmi Note 10 comes with 128 gigabytes (GB) or 64 GB of device memory (UFS 2.2) and 4 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X). The smartphone swallows two SIM cards for dual SIM operation. There is the obligatory infrared transmitter (e.g. for remote control apps), Bluetooth 5.0 and stereo speakers. The jack socket is on the underside. Android 11 is used as the operating system, which is garnished with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12. Incomprehensible: What is sorely missing for fans of contactless payment via Google Pay is NFC.

Redmi Note 10: Strong battery
The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh. In the COMPUTER BILD mobile phone battery test, the Redmi Note 10 lasted a very good 10:52 hours with intensive, uninterrupted use. The Pro can’t do better at 10:13. It is charged with up to 33 watts via USB type C. A fast charging power supply with this power is included in the scope of delivery. With the Note 10, this worked pretty well in the test at 1:19 hours for a full charge. Here the Pro loses valuable minutes and comes to 1:36 hours. Incidentally, the fastest cell phone chargers are full four times in that time. Here the Redmi 10 worked out a lead compared to the Pro and wins the battery chapter. However, there is agreement that inductive charging should be left to the more expensive devices.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10: prices, colors, launch of sales
The Redmi Note 10 is (at least theoretically) available in the colors Onyx Gray (gray), Pebble White (white) and Lake Green (green). It was first available to order in March 2021. With 4/128 GB, the RRP was 199 euros at the start, with 4/64 GB it was 179.90 euros.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro, which is actually 50 percent more expensive, performed well in the test, but the Redmi Note 10 came dangerously close. It has better endurance, recharges faster, has a sharper display on paper, and takes better photos in daylight.
