Xiaomi Redmi will release a smartphone without a charger in the box

The upcoming Redmi Note 11SE will be sold in India without its 33W charger in the box. A first for the entry level but also for the Xiaomi sub-brand.

If there is one manufacturer that has pushed fast charging into the entry level, it is Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi. Its Note 11 Pro bears witness to this with its 67W charge under 300 euros. But what is a fast charge worth without its dedicated charger? This is the question that future Redmi buyers may be asking themselves.

The website My Smart Price spotted this detail on the official product sheet of the next Redmi Note 11 SE, due next month in India. In the section detailing the items found in the box, there is of course the phone, a USB-C cable, the SIM eject tool, a protective cover, some paperwork and… that’s it. The 33 W charger is not included. In France, on the Mi Store, the 33W charger is sold for 20 euros and is also out of stock.

The entry level without charger

It is not impossible that it is a simple trial balloon or an isolated episode. The fact remains that the release of an entry-level phone without a charger is a first. Indeed, this price segment is usually spared by this trend, initiated on high-end smartphones. Note also that even at the top of the range, Xiaomi has rather accustomed us to supplying chargers. This deletion is therefore a double surprise since we would rather have expected to see the brand start from the top on this subject.

Redmi being a brand centered on the idea of providing as many interesting features as possible at contained prices, adding an invoice of a few tens of euros to the purchase to obtain a charger risks lowering the value of its products. Especially in a segment where very fast charging could be invited in the years to come. Let’s hope that if this decision were to be confirmed for French releases, it doesn’t give too many ideas to other brands, which of course are watching the boiling brand with a feverish eye.
