Xiaomi has just launched a new 27-inch monitor in China. Designed for gamers, this screen is based on Mini-LED technology and is promising… while remaining positioned at a reasonable price.
Faced with the big names Dell, ASUS, Samsung and even LG in the field of gaming monitors, Xiaomi intends to carve out a small piece of the pie. To do this, the Chinese giant has launched a certain Redmi G Pro on its land. This new 27-inch Mini-LED screen, which has not yet been announced in Europe, is sold for 2,199 yuan in China, the equivalent of approximately 285 euros (excluding taxes).
A screen with high-end specifications
On the menu of this Redmi G Pro, a QHD Mini-LED panel (2560 by 1440 pixels) offering a 180 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time, but also a dimming therefore with 1152 backlight zones and 4508 LEDs in total.
For the rest, Xiaomi announces a peak brightness of 1,000 cd/m2 and support for the HDR1000 standard. At the same time, and unsurprisingly, we find support for VRR via AMD FreeSync technology. However, we do not know if this screen is also NVIDIA G-Sync compatible.
Less than 300 euros excluding tax…
In terms of colorimetry, the Xiaomi Redmi G Pro covers 100% of the sRGB space and supports 99% and 97% of the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB gamuts respectively. As for the connections, they are numerous and relatively modern, with 2 Display Port 2.1 ports and 2 HDMI 2.0 ports.
Given its price of less than 300 euros excluding tax, the specifications of Xiaomi’s new screen are therefore impressive. It remains to be seen what price would be applied in France if the brand decides to market its monitor in our latitudes.
