XXL Bags: This trend replaces small handbags

Bye bye small bags, hello XXL bags!

Go Big or Go Home: For a long time we relied on smaller bags that, with a little luck, just fit some small change and a lipstick. In terms of fashion, big things are coming our way after the mini trend – really big things. Because this summer we’re focusing on having everything with us.

Instead of small and clumsy, it’s now extra large – and we love it! Designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo or even Jacquemus – who, by the way, has already started a micro trend – let their models strut down the catwalks with oversized bags. Similar to the new size of the It-Bags is the variety of shapes. We tell you which bags you need to have on the fashion radar NOW.

soft bags

The new, almost baggy silhouettes at Yves Saint Laurent are super cool. The secret: Instead of solid, structured materials, as we know them from the microbags, the designers are now using super soft leather. We love the look that gives us an extra dose of nonchalance when worn crossbody or crumpled up under the arm.

raffia bags

Stars like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner or influencer Caro Daur celebrated the super small bags by Jacquemus, which also launched the micro bag trend of the time and took it to the extreme. But Jacquemus of all people is now going for XXL instead of XXS – in the form of oversized raffia bags. The French fashion designer seems to have a soft spot for extremes…

Tote bags

The Dior Book Tote can be seen as a pioneer of the big bags that are currently so popular. And we still can’t get enough of the boxy bags. Because: They are beautiful, practical and simply go with everything thanks to their simple and timeless design. No wonder other designers have jumped on the bandwagon and are betting on tote bags. Good for us – this gives us the choice and the ability to recreate the look with affordable pieces.

That’s why we love the trend

Admittedly, we carried small bags up and down – but as the saying goes: Everything has an end. And this trend was definitely not practical. Because whether in the office or on a shopping spree in the city: We were missing a bit of space for mobile phones, wallets, cosmetics, water bottles and Co. – we now get double and triple that in return. The only downside: With the XXL models we have to dig quite a bit for our belongings. The solution: As with the micro bags, we use the slimmed down version of the big bags and choose models that are a tiny bit less jumbo. Did you also get a taste for it? Then we have our favorite models here for you to shop for.
