After having been a deputy for five years, Yaël Braun-Pivet was elected president of the National Assembly on June 28, 2022. A new role which must take her a lot of time. Mother of a large family, she explained, in the columns of Gala, August 9, 2022, how she managed to organize herself.
Before becoming President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet was a deputy, but also Minister of Overseas France and also held other positions during Emmanuel Macron’s first term. Before being well occupied professionally, she took care of her family. The politician is the head of a large family, with five children. For several years, she lived in Taiwan, Japan and Portugal, where her husband was expatriated for professional reasons. She does not regret having followed him with his family. “When pursuing careers, time for family shrinks to a trickle. However, the more they advance, the more the family grows. We made the choice to go abroad. Thanks to that, I was able to build and expand this family, since two of our children were born there. This time together was very important to ensure very solid foundations, which a family needs and on which it can rely to move forward.“, she confided in the columns of GalaTuesday, August 9, 2022.
She did not have the feeling of sacrificing her career to allow her husband to succeed in his and to be able to raise his children. “Every woman is entitled to think and do what she wants to do. A woman’s freedom means being able to choose her way of being a woman, her way of being (or not being) a mother, her way of pursuing a career… It’s eminently personal. Me, I am very happy to have devoted these years to my children. It’s probably because I did that that I feel so free and so supported by them today..”
