After the different, but still as successful Yakuza: Like a Dragonseventh installment abandoning the adventures of Kiryu Kazuma for those of the new Ichiban Kasuga, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio confirmed last year that he was preparing a new episode, as well as other projects.
