Yanis and David punished to death: trial opens today

In 2017, these two children, aged 5 and 8, lost their lives after being subjected to violence inflicted by their in-laws. The trial opens this Monday, November 16, before the Assize Court of Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) and that of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique).

These tragic stories have no connection between them, but the fate of these children remains the same, they were killed. According to the Parisian, these two boys succumbed to a terrible punishment, David, in January 2017 and Yanis, in February 2017.

“The first died shackled in the full bathtub of the family home in Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique). David, an 8-year-old malnourished and abused child, had made the mistake of asking a stranger to eat. The second died after a forced march in the freezing night in Aire-sur-la-Lys (Pas-de-Calais). Yanis, a 5-year-old boy who was regularly beaten, had the wrong to wet the bed ", indicates the Parisian.

As of Monday, November 16, David’s father-in-law and mother of Ivorian origin, in prison since the events, will appear before the judge. They are accused of "acts of torture or barbarism resulting in death without intention of giving it" and they face life imprisonment.

As for him, the father-in-law of Yanis is judged for “violence by ascendant” and “voluntary homicide on a minor under 15 years”. The mother was appearing for "willful failure to prevent a felony or misdemeanor and faces up to 5 years in prison."

"To report is to save a child"

On October 22, 2020, the “Innocence en Danger” association raised awareness in the world about child and domestic violence, by installing three walls on Place de la République to show the importance of reporting. “Behind this campaign, Innocence in Danger, on behalf of these massacred children, wants every citizen to mobilize so that the list of small victims stops growing. Reporting is more than a legal obligation and it must become a reflex for every French person: TO REPORT IS TO SAVE A CHILD. "
