In 27 min 47 sec 13, the 26-year-old Frenchman was beaten by the Italian Yemaneberhan Crippa (27 min 46 sec 13) and the Norwegian Zerei Kbrom Mezngi (27 min 46 sec 94). Long in the lead, the favorite, the Frenchman Jimmy Gressiern finally finished 4th.

Long in the lead with the desire to lead a fast train, the favorite Jimmy Gressier finished fourth, in 27 min 49 sec 84, without sufficient energy to get back on the podium at the end of the race.

Nine French medals

On the contrary, Yann Schrub took full advantage of his excellent finish to invite himself there and offer himself a personal best (27 min 49 sec 64 until then).

The Frenchman brings to the French athletics team his eighth medal in European competition, a real reward for the talented athlete from Sarreguemines, who must compose between his training and his medical studies, without any accommodation.

The third Frenchman in the 10,000m, Yoann Kowal, ranked fifteenth (28 min 17 sec 39).

The ninth French medal, in silver this time, was won by the French men’s 4 x 100 m relay, concluded by Jimmy Vicaut.

With a quartet made up of Méba-Mickaël Zeze, Pablo Mateo, Ryan Zeze and Jimmy Vicaut, the French relay completed its lap in 37 sec 94, behind Great Britain (37 sec 67) and ahead of Poland (38 sec 15).

French athletics concludes the continental meeting with nine medals: four in silver and five in bronze. But none in gold: he had not known that for forty years (1982). This earned him a sad 22nd place in the nations ranking.
