Yannick Noah: the singer victim of a “relapse” for his return to Cameroon

After a heavenly vacation in the islands, the artist posted a disturbing photo on his Instagram account. He reveals that he has a fatal disease.

Difficult return to reality for the 62-year-old singer… While he was still a few days ago under the coconut trees where he spent a dream vacation in French Polynesia, Yannick Noah is currently hospitalized. The reason: an attack of malaria. Indeed, in Instagram story, the singer posted a photo accompanied by this sentence: “Beautiful malaria crisis to celebrate the return”. Cap on his head and worried face, he appears lying on a bed, visibly placed on a drip.

For several days, Yannick Noah had been posting photos of heavenly landscapes. It was in French Polynesia that he enjoyed a family vacation. However, it was not in Tahiti that the former tennis player contracted the disease but in Cameroon, where he now lives. Indeed, following the death of his father in 2017, the singer proclaimed himself chief of the village of Etoudi, which has become a district of Yaoundé, the Cameroonian capital. Last year, he confided to our colleagues at Brut that he felt “like a call” to return to live in his father’s country of origin.

Yannick Noah already suffering from malaria

This is not the first time that the interpreter of simon daddy tara has malaria. In June 2022, he posted a photo on Instagram with this message: “Thank you doc Bernard M…back to work! I hope there will be no relapse…”. Unfortunately for the artist, his wish will not be granted. He who had nevertheless committed himself to the fight against malaria with the NGO Impact Santé Afrique (ISA) was hospitalized again. In May 2022, during a press conference organized by the NGO, Yannick Noah justified his commitment: “The goal is to help children and to ensure that Cameroonian children and women can have access to care to prevent this scourge which is malaria. There are people who are lucky enough to have access to care, so I am one of them, but I also know that there are others for whom it’s much more difficult.”
