Yara Shahidi: She will play Tinker Bell in "Peter and Wendy"

New addition to the cast of "Peter Pan and Wendy": "Black-ish" star Yara Shahidi will play the fairy Tinker Bell in the remake Disney.

Yara Shahidi (20, "The Sun Is Also a Star") will soon be going on a trip to Neverland: According to "Deadline", the actress will play the role of Tinker Bell in the Disney remake of "Peter Pan". Shahidi confirmed the report a little later in an Instagram post. The little fairy is Peter Pan's best friend. Jude Law (47, "Sherlock Holmes") will play Captain James Hook in the new flick. The US industry portal "Variety" reported this in July of this year. The two eponymous roles were cast with Alexander Molony and Milla Jovovich's (44) daughter Ever Anderson (12).

In February 2020, the comic book specialists from "CBR" initially reported that Margot Robbie (30, "The Wolf of Wall Street") had been offered the role of the fairy Tinker Bell. According to "Deadline", Shahidi is the first African American woman to cast the role of Tinker Bell. The lead role was given to an African American for the first time in "Arielle the Mermaid". The chosen one is US singer Halle Bailey (20).

The remake under the title "Peter Pan and Wendy" joins the list of Disney remakes. The children's book by James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was first implemented as a cartoon by the mouse company in 1953 and is considered the most successful adaptation of the story. The remake is directed by David Lowery (39), who is also responsible for the script together with Toby Halbrooks. When the shooting starts and when the film will start in the cinemas is not yet known.
