Year in review: The Royals showed their sporty side

Sports are also practiced with royal blood in all possible disciplines. In 2023, the Royals exhausted themselves on the playing fields, racetracks and oceans of Europe. GALA has captured the most beautiful moments of the royal athletes and their offspring.

The Royals’ most sporting moments in review of the year

In April of this year, Princess Victoria of Sweden glides effortlessly through the snowy Swedish landscape. Skiing for the Crown Princess is still possible in the spring in Sonfjället National Park. King Carl Gustaf’s daughter cuts a sporty figure and beams into the camera in the sunny April weather.

People also enjoy skiing in Norway. So does Prince Haakon. Norway’s Crown Prince was out in the snow with students from the Hovden Ski High School in March of this year. Wearing a ski outfit in bright colors and wearing both ski goggles and sunglasses, he seems to be very sporty and enjoying his excursions through nature.

The British royals show their skills in several disciplines

Whether climbing, archery, rugby, tennis or polo – the British royal family is talented in a variety of sports. Particularly Catherine, Princess of Wales, seems to enjoy several sports: in April she is seen visiting the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team. Secured only with a harness, she climbs a steep rock face and clearly seems to be having fun on the not entirely safe excursion. In May, the Princess of Wales and her husband William will be taking part in another sporting discipline: dressed as scouts, the two of them will be enjoying their time archery. Catherine has her goal in mind.

In June, the wife of the British Crown Prince was shown the work of the ball boys and girls at the big Grand Slam tournament alongside tennis legend Roger Federer and helped diligently in her white tennis outfit. Things are at least as elegant at the Rugby Club in June. Skillfully works Catherine, Princess of Wales, on her catching and throwing techniques. On horseback, Prince William cuts a particularly good figure in the saddle at the Royal Charity Polo Cup in July.

The mini royals are also already doing sports

What their parents do in sports, their children have been able to do for a long time. In May, three royal children will start the One Mile family race in the Danish capital Copenhagen. Prince Christian shows up in a purple running outfit with his three siblings Princess Isabella and the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine at the family run.

In August, the Porsche Carrera Cup took place in Sweden at the Gelleraasen Arena motorsport racetrack. Prince Carl Philip is also driving for victory in his blue racing suit in the yellow racing car. Whether the colors of the suit and car match the Swedish flag or is a coincidence remains his secret.

Next year we can look forward to sporting events again in which the royal families will also take part. Ambitiously and with a lot of joy, they get involved in different sports and show that they are just as crazy about sports as many of us!
