A great secret rider
In an interview with Deadline, Taylor Sheridan revealed who the best rider among the cast members was, a person who is not allowed to show his talent on screen and for good reason…
“I put the entire cast through extensive riding training. Ironically, the person least allowed to ride a horse is the one who is the best rider: Kelly Reilly. She grew up riding horses. In contrast, Jimmy (Jefferson White) grew up in New York and had almost never ridden a horse..”

In the series, Kelly Reilly’s character, Beth Dutton, hates horses, unlike her interpreter. Beth’s reluctance to ride horses is known to fans of the series – spoiler alert! – and is a consequence of the fatal accident of his mother Evelyn, on horseback.
Kevin Costner or Kelly Reilly: who is the better rider?
If Kevin Costner is used to horses, having filmed numerous westerns, the fact is that Kelly Reilly surpasses it: this is in any case the opinion of Taylor Sheridan – who is himself an excellent rider and horse enthusiast, as reported among others by Quarter Horse News. The showrunner only played the small role of Travis Wheatley in the series because he couldn’t find anyone else capable of playing the difficult role of a professional horse trainer.

In the case of Jefferson White, learning to ride a horse was not without consequences. As explained Taylor Sheridanhorse riding is above all a relationship of trust between the horse and its rider: “It takes a lot of confidence for someone who has never ridden a horse to ride one. And the horse can feel that fear, so it was quite risky for a while.”
“To his credit, after two days of riding a horse, [Jefferson White] never complained. And when he came down, he said, ‘I’ll do better, I promise.’ He had saddle sores that he never told anyone about, and he was bleeding through his jeans and all over the saddle. I said to him, ‘Buddy, don’t worry about the saddle, but take some Moleskine and cover that thing up so you don’t rub all over your butt.’”
Will Beth, Rip and Kayce be in the sequel?
The second part of season 5 of Yellowstone isn’t expected to reach us until the end of the year, but the drama still managed to find its way onto the ranch in the meantime. Following the dispute between Kevin Costner And Taylor Sheridanabout the role and the actor’s remuneration, several other stars of the series – Kelly ReillyCole Hauser and Luke Grimes – are threatening to withdraw from the spin-off which will star Matthew McConaughey.
According to the Puck newsletter, all three actors are reportedly asking for significant pay raises: $1.25 million per episode (and even $1.5 million per episode for Kelly Reilly). Recently questioned about this rumor, in an interview with Radio Times, the latter however declared:
“All I care about is finishing [la série principale] with as much care, passion and love as I can put into it. I’m kind of preparing for that now, that’s what’s on my mind the most. And what happens beyond that? There are discussions, you know. Don’t believe everything you read. This is simply absurd… Let’s wait and see, I don’t have an answer at the moment. But we’ll see.”
