‘You are not the victim’: That ’70s Show’s Danny Masterson sentenced to 30 years in prison for rape

Comedian Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping two women based on events that occurred in the early 2000s.

“Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim.” It was with these words that Charlaine Olmedo, judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, pronounced the sentence of Danny Masterson, tried for sexual assault and rape.

At the end of a trial spread over several years, the 47-year-old American actor was sentenced to a 30-year prison term after being found guilty of raping two women between 2001 and 2003 in his Hollywood home.

“You like to hurt women”one of his victims, present in court but whose anonymity was preserved, told the accused. “You lived your life behind a mask, like two people. But the real person is sitting here.”

This is the maximum sentence for a crime of this type, but note that the elements did not make it possible to recognize the accusations of a third woman for alleged acts of the same nature. Danny Masterson was also registered by order of the judge in the sex offender file.

Accused in 2017 during the outbreak of the movement #MeToo, Danny Masterson was fired from the cast of the Netflix series The Ranch. He also did not appear on That ’90s Show, a sequel to the sitcom That ’70s Show in which he was one of the main leads.
