Already available, the WearOS version of YouTubeMusic gets a welcome update today.

The new version gives pride of place to streaming, in 4G and Wi-Fi.

YouTube Music gets a makeover on WearOS

Launched last year, the YouTube Music app for WearOS has been stripped of many features. Earlier this year, Google promised serious improvements to this app, including new streaming features and a new tile.

Also, with the new update, the YouTube Music app for WearOS allows streaming through a cellular (4G/5G) or Wi-Fi network, without the need to have a smartphone nearby. Google specifies, however, that this same streaming is only available over Wi-Fi on iOS, for all YouTube Premium subscribers.

In addition, the application allows you to add a new YouTube Music tile on a connected watch, for quick access to the application, in particular to launch your recent music in a few clicks. Rollout of the update kicks off this week, with availability on many new smartwatches later this year.
