- The e-commerce giant Ebay discovers NFTs for themselves. According to a press release from the group, eBay is launching exclusive non-fungible tokens in cooperation with the NFT platform OneOf.
- “NFTs and blockchain technology are revolutionizing the collectibles space and are increasingly being viewed as an investment opportunity for enthusiasts,” said Dawn Block, vice president of eBay’s collectibles, electronics and home division.
- The first NFTs have already come under the hammer. Such are the most strictly limited digital recreations of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky at the time of writing out of stock. Some cheaper editions are available for 10 US dollars and are still available.
- More drops will follow later this year. The digital works of art are thematically based on the covers of the sports magazine Sports Illustrated.
- NFTs have been tradable on eBay for quite some time. However, the fact that the platform itself publishes digital works of art is new.
