You can pay with satoshis at these fast food chains

The first purchase of a commodity with Bitcoin was a pizza – for 10,000 BTC. Today’s equivalent: 368,000 million euros. Today that’s an amusing anecdote for HODLER. In 2010, the transaction was revolutionary, proving that the peer-to-peer electronic cash system invented by inventor Satoshi Nakamoto two years earlier works.

From this point of view, adoption is also measured by the selection of burgers, pizzas and fries that can be ordered with Bitcoin. Freely adapted from Brecht: Food comes first, then the financial revolution.

If you want to buy bitcoin you can do this, for example, with the crypto exchange eToro. And if you want to swap some of your satoshis for a delicious sandwich: We got you covered.

1. Supplier

The largest delivery service in Germany has been accepting bitcoin since 2017. Over 15,000 restaurants deliver directly to customers’ homes throughout Germany. So you can order from practically all popular fast food chains.

2. Burger King (delivery only)

Burger King also accepts BTC, but in Germany only for one delivery, either via Lieferando or Burger King’s own smartphone app. In the USA you will soon be able to pay in branches, thanks to the Lightning Network. 3. Starbucks (via app)

Crypto-savvy coffee drinkers can also go to Starbucks in Germany with their Satoshis. Since 2020 you can pay for your Frappuccino there in Bitcoin. 4. McDonalds (only Lieferando)

A BigMac for Bitcoin? In the US, this will soon be possible thanks to Shopify’s integration of the Lightning Network. German customers still have to make do with an order from Lieferando if they fancy a cheeseburger.

5. North Sea (only Lieferando)

You can also pay with Bitcoin at Germany’s most popular fast food chain Nordsee. The same applies here as with McDonalds: So far, this has only been possible in the Federal Republic of Germany by ordering via Lieferando.
