According to Zack Snyder, the upcoming director’s cuts of “Rebel Moon” are not just extended versions of the film, but completely exaggerated alternative versions that border on a parody.

“Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scar Maker” starts on Netflix on April 19, 2024, but neither the streaming service nor director Zack Snyder or his fans seem to be particularly excited about the film. Instead, the focus is on the summer, when the two “Rebel Moon” films will finally be released in the version in which they should have been released from the beginning: the director’s cut.
Unlike most director’s cuts, which only appear years after the “official” version, or the “Snyder Cut” of “Justice League”, which was only created after many years of back and forth, “Rebel Moon” was already in place during the Filming determined that there would ultimately be two versions of each film – and Snyder took full advantage of this knowledge!

As Snyder revealed in an interview with Unilad, his director’s cut is not an extended version, but an alternative version of “Rebel Moon”. Even scenes that were already included in the normal film version were re-shot with slight adjustments. Of course, things get even wilder in the scenes that can only be found in the Director’s Cut, which is completely adult-friendly.
The tone of the film changes tremendously as it is more exaggerated, intentionally exaggerated, in terms of sex and violence. It actually changes the film because it becomes more of a… I don’t want to say a parody, but the film is aware that the violence is so crazy that you think, “Oh, that’s something , which shouldn’t exist on this scale in a sci-fi film.”

Snyder’s statements are undoubtedly good advertising for the director’s cut, but poor advertising for the start of “Rebel Moon 2”. With the best version of the film just a few months away, sci-fi fans might do well to just wait a little longer and then stream the version of “Rebel Moon” that Snyder had in mind from the start.
