But meanwhile, The Verge shared some interesting information about the future screens that Samsung’s new smartphones will carry.

If, in fact, we are still very far from such ambitions, Corning, a company specializing in the manufacture of glasses, intends to take a step further in this direction with the screens of the Galaxy S23.

It’s now official, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be the first smartphones to feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for their screens. And according to previous claims from Corning, this new protection standard would not only allow phones to withstand drops of two meters on smooth asphalt, it could also withstand a drop of one meter on… concrete. It would almost make you want to try all that… (no, of course not, let’s see).
Our colleagues from The Verge nevertheless wanted to temper these statements. The tests are always carried out under very specific conditions and are not systematically representative of reality. In addition, Corning and Samsung’s latest press release would no longer mention a three-foot drop onto concrete, as was previously the case, but a ” improved drop performance on rough surfaces like concrete “.
In summary, yes, the screens of the Samsung Galaxy S23 look much more robust than those of the Galaxy S22. That said, it is better not to venture to take too many risks during your walks with your future S23 in hand or in your pocket.
