Who says new week, says unpublished selection of novelties on SVoD platforms signed by Digital. As usual, here’s what to watch on Disney+, Canal+, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video during the week of February 6, 2023.

This week we recommend the series You (season 4), the documentary Clara Luciani: it starts like this and the movies Very Bad Cops, OSS 117: Cairo Nest of Spies, Welcome to Doug’s: Carl’s Date Night.

OSS 117: Cairo Nest of Spies (Canal+)

We are in 1955. Cairo is a real strategic crossroads where spies from all over the world swarm. The French secret agent on duty has disappeared. The President of the Republic decides to send a replacement to investigate his disappearance. Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, code name OSS 117, then left for the land of the pharaohs…

Directed by Michel Hazanivicius (The Artist), this cult film that needs no introduction is a brilliant Sean Connery-style spy pastiche. Jean Dujardin is perfect as a cretin and macho hero, well accompanied by a cast of tasty supporting roles. OSS 117: Cairo Nest of Spies succeeds wonderfully in its balancing act between homage and mockery, and delivers a fine and quality comedy. Timeless. From February 6 on Canal+ and the myCanal platform.

Very Bad Cops (Canal+)

Two brilliant New York police officers died during a chase. Two failed detectives, Hoitz and Gamble, hope to take advantage of this tragedy to take center stage. Gamble unearths a very big file: the dubious registration of a building permit by a financial magnate.

We stay in humor with this pastiche of American action films signed by Adam McKay (Don’t Look Up, Brothers in spite of themselves), one of the recent masters of the genre. On the program, actors who get off, deliciously absurd scenes where improvisation is king, all served by the comic energy of the Will Ferrel/Mark Whalberg duo. It’s silly (and brilliant) as you wish, and that’s what we like. From February 7 on Canal+ and the myCanal platform.

Clara Luciani: it starts like this (Prime Video)

A documentary on the journey of Clara Luciani, from her early childhood in the city of Martigues to her rise to Paris, from her first musical experiences to the success of her last tour.

Clara Luciani: it starts like this is a dive into the intimacy and the creative process of the singer-songwriter of The grenade And The rest. Based on personal archives and images captured over 24 months of the singer, the documentary offers a tender and touching portrait, between past and present, where the artist reveals an astonishing vulnerability. The film is obviously very hagiographic and promotional, but it delivers a beautiful communicative energy and a disturbing intimacy. From February 8 on Amazon Prime Video.

Welcome to Doug’s: Carl’s Date Night (Disney+)

Carl Fredricksen reluctantly agrees to go on a date with a friend, but has no idea how dating works these days. Doug, his faithful companion, tries to appease him by giving him good tips on how to make friends when you’re a dog.

Welcome to Doug is a collection of five short films of 6 to 10 min, starring the talking dog from the film up there (2009). A series of charming and unpretentious little films, which will easily fill a weekend for young and old. It is also an opportunity to hear the voice (in the original version) of the late Ed Asner, who voices Carl Fredricksen, and to laugh in front of the dog Doug, a definitely adorable character. This sixth short film is available from February 10 on Disney+.
