“You should be happy!” : Eric Zemmour talks about his future at CNews after the 2022 presidential election

On January 12, 2022, Éric Zemmour was invited on the set of BFMTV to discuss its program. In front of him, Natacha Polony, Apolline de Malherbe, Maxime Switek or even Bruce Toussaint questioned him in turn in order to find out more about the presidential candidate.

An uncertain future. On January 12, 2022, Éric Zemmour was the guest of Facing BFM on BFMTV in order to once again defend his political program. While the presidential candidate has still not obtained his 500 signatures, the latter had to answer many questions from several journalists, including Natacha Polony, Apolline de Malherbe, Maxime Switek, the economist Nicolas Doze but also the presenter. from the same channel, Bruce Toussaint. And unlike his passage in Facing Baba on C8, Eric Zemmour’s interlocutors did not go to the confrontation … Quite the contrary. Bruce Toussaint has indeed tried to find out more about the private life of Eric Zemmour, and in particular about his future as a journalist if he is not elected President of the Republic in April 2022.

“Bad news for CNews, by the way!”

“You will never come back to journalism?”, request Bruce toussaint to his guest, a smile on his face. And the party candidate Reconquest respond : “I hope that I will write many more columns, or books … But I will probably not come back to professional journalism”. An answer that did not fail to make the presenter of BFMTV smile: “Bad news for CNews, by the way!” A small remark on which the main interested party preferred not to expand and let go in a laughing tone: “You should be happy!”

Éric Zemmour assumes that he is not a “professional candidate”

Earlier in the interview, Eric Zemmour notably mentioned the impact of his candidacy for the next presidential elections on his career as a political journalist. He was indeed a columnist on the show Facing the info presented by Christine Kelly on CNews each evening, attracting an average of 800,000 viewers. “I gave it all up, you know”, he said to Natacha Polony. And to add at the same time: “I am not a professional candidate. I come only to try to save my country.”
