After a convincing Honor Magic 5 Pro, the Chinese manufacturer took advantage of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit to present the Honor Magic 6. In addition to confirming that the smartphone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, it reveals that the device will have a generative AI system. The Qualcomm chip is in fact capable of running a model locally, without the help of the cloud. A feature that opens up a whole host of possibilities. Honor showed one.

In a short simulation video, we see a woman holding the Honor Magic 6 in front of her, with one hand. At the top of the screen, a black bar which is actually theUber app. Without touching anything, only directing his gaze in a certain waythe user manages to open the app in full screen. The technology used is “multimodal interaction based on eye tracking”. Rest assured, Honor gave it a more digestible name: Magic Capsule.

On paper, the functionality is interesting. We can imagine several situations in which we would appreciate being able to navigate on our smartphone while our hands are full. Not to mention theaccessibility general which will be strengthened. But no real demonstration has been made. The use of the term “multimodal” also suggests that the eyes will not be the only trigger for actions. Will we have to confirm the request with something else? Will you have to hold your gaze on a point for X seconds to validate? These questions currently have no answers.

We must also not forget the multiple implications of such a system on the private life. In theory, there is no need to send any data to the cloud since, as we have said, the Snapdragon Gen 3 processor can manage this type of function locally. In fact, we will have to wait for more details and above all try Magic Capsule for ourselves before making a decision.
