It’s Nicole Kidman’s size that seems to have caused her harm, particularly during her debut. “I say I’m 1.78 m tall, but I’m actually 1.80 m tall,” confides the actress to Radio Times before adding: “I’ve been made fun of and nicknamed “the big stem”. People were saying to me: ‘What’s the air like up there?’”. Beyond the derogatory comments she heard, some went so far as to tell her that her large size was an obstacle to her career. “I was told: ‘You won’t have a career. You’re too big’”testifies Nicole Kidman.

Comments which fortunately did not turn into a prophecy for Nicole Kidman. This does not prevent the actress from having faced comments about her size throughout her career. “People still make these kinds of remarks to me. People say to me, ‘Oh my God, you’re so much bigger than I thought!’” she confides. Beyond the comments she may have received, Nicole Kidman has sometimes been held back by her size.
“It bothers me in the sense that, when I play, I would like to be small, like this or like that…”, she says. This does not prevent the actress from sometimes enjoying her size. “But there are times when I appreciate (my tall size, editor’s note), because when it is linked to my work, I tell myself that I can use it”she relates on the microphone of Radio Times. This regular on the red carpet at film festivals also admits to having to systematically make special requests when she is preparing to promote a film that features her.
