Digging a little into the Google Chat code, we currently find references to the integration of an AI capable of summarizing conversations. The application is certainly already capable of doing this, but this new integration would make it possible to invoke AI on demand and above all, for entire conversations. We’ll explain it to you.
Like Microsoft, Google has been very busy lately integrating its Gemini AI into all of these services. Recently, Gmail got this treatment, with a new feature that summarizes emails that are too long. But your colleagues who are a little too talkative are certainly using another Google application to spam you with messages: Google Chat. Good news, the Mountain View firm has also tackled the problem.
In fact, Google Chat already allows you to summarize certain messages that are a little too verbose. However, our colleagues from PiunikaWeb found a few new lines of code within the application which suggests that Google wants to go further. Indeed, it seems that a new button will soon appear. By clicking on it, it will be possible to summarize entire conversations.

Let’s say you’ve been out of the office for several days and you haven’t been able (or wanted to) check your email. There is a very good chance that some conversations are now cluttered with hundreds of instant messages. Thanks to AI, you can then ask the application to summarize the most important points, saving you valuable time.

This new functionality, called Smart Summary (“intelligent summary”) will be available at any time, simply by pressing and holding for a few moments on the desired conversation. However, we do not yet know when the functionality will be deployed. However, we can bet that this won’t be long, given the rate at which Google is infusing its AI into all possible and imaginable applications.
