You will soon be able to customize the interface of these connected watches even more

Several clues suggest the arrival of Dynamic Color on Pixel Watches. Enough to allow users to adapt the colors of the system according to their tastes.

Since the release of Wear OS 3 in 2021, manufacturers of connected watches using the Google system can now develop their own user interface. A Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and a Google Pixel Watch 2 may have the same operating system, but they benefit from different interfaces.

However, Google does not intend to stop there when it comes to customizing the interface of its connected watches. The firm should soon allow users of its own toquantes, the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2, to modify the main shade displayed on the screen.

Customizable colors for Pixel Watches

The site 9to5Google discovered that Google has started rolling out the “ Dynamic Color » on its Pixel Watches over the past week. Inherited from Android, this feature will allow users to change the accent color on their watch screen to give it a different look. So, instead of the beige offered until now, the watches now display icons, buttons or graphics in a shade of light blue. However, as indicated 9to5Googlethis is the one offered by default on smartphones when users activate the Dynamic Color option without choosing a specific shade:

Blue is the default hue seen on apps that do not support Dynamic Color. Wear OS could therefore pave the way for full support for color themes.

We still do not know how this color management will be offered to users of Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 watches. We can imagine that the system will be based on the shades of the dial, in the absence of the wallpaper offered on Google watches. Another alternative could be a choice offered directly to users between several shades, as suggested9to5Googlewithout necessarily making a link with the color of the dial.

Finally, if it now seems certain that Google will indeed offer the dynamic color function on its own watches, we still do not know if this will also be the case on models from other manufacturers based on Wear OS. For smartphones, if Google was the first to integrate a similar function with Material You, the system color function based on the tints of the wallpaper is now found among most Android manufacturers. It therefore remains to be seen whether, like smartphones, Dynamic Color will be integrated directly into the operating system or accessible only to Google models.
