Young Lavanttalerin – Only an operation brought back quality of life

Jacqueline W. suffered from severe abdominal pain for years, meals were an ordeal for the 24 year old, nausea and weight loss were constant companions. She went to several hospitals, but all therapies were unsuccessful – until Kabeg doctors finally discovered the cause.

Since 2016, the Lavanttalerin suffered from severe abdominal pain that occurred after every meal. If she just drank, however, there was no pain. The young woman sought advice from several doctors and went to various hospitals – but the recurring abdominal pain could not be treated. When the Carinthian was also struggling with nausea and weight loss, the situation began to worsen.

The patient was finally referred to Primarius Reinhard Mittermair at the Klagenfurt Clinic. There the doctors managed to determine the cause of their suffering.

In April, the 24-year-old was finally operated on by senior physicians Darko Sklepic and Markus Fellner. “In a two-hour keyhole surgery operation, the constricting ligament that was sitting directly on the main artery was successfully severed,” says Prof. Mittermair proudly of the performance of his team.

Jacqueline was able to leave the hospital four days after the operation.
