A 41-year-old was coming from a vigil in Berlin for the Hamas hostages when several young people attacked him. One apparently wants to tear off an Israel flag that he is wearing around his neck – and chokes the man in the process.
A man with two Israel flags is said to have been harassed and injured by young people in Berlin. The state security agency is investigating dangerous bodily harm with a political background, the police said.
According to the police, the 41-year-old came from a vigil for the hostages kidnapped from Israel by Hamas on Saturday afternoon. According to police, he had an Israel flag tied around his neck and another attached to a pole.
At the Wittenbergplatz subway station, three to four young people are said to have attacked him and expressed dissatisfaction with the flags. One of the suspects is said to have torn the flag from the pole and thrown it into a trash can. Another is said to have tried to tear off the flag that was wrapped around his neck.
The 41-year-old was choked and suffered pain, the police said. However, he did not need medical treatment. The 41-year-old informed a police patrol in the radio car in the presence of two witnesses. Video recordings of the crime were secured, the police said.
