Young Russian homosexual recounts the nightmare he experienced in a mental asylum

A moving testimony of a boy, who explains that his mother wanted to make him "normal" after discovering his sexual attraction to men.

On the site Open Democracy, Egor Panin was able to tell at length the hell he lived following the discovery of his homosexuality by his mother. Remember that Russia is not the most favorable place for the community, homophobia is very present. For five years, therefore, the young man, who grew up in Nizhny Novgorod, tried to escape his relatives who controlled him. The media wants to show through Egor's story "the way in which homophobia and bureaucracy are manifested in this system".

It all started at the end of 2014, Egor's mother came across his conversations via VKontakte (the Russian Facebook), and she discovered that her son was gay. He claims to have been beaten and that family friends, psychiatrists, frequently came to his home to prescribe various treatments: tablets and injections to make him a "normal person", mainly neuroleptics and antidepressants.

In January 2015, Egor, 17, fled to Moscow. During an investigation his mother launched, a Russian officer impersonated another homosexual and at a fast food restaurant he is arrested and thrown in the back of a black 4×4.

After being returned to his family, he was transferred to the hospital. Egor escapes twice but caught up with him, he is locked in a mental asylum.

“There were doctors and doctors, and mum talks about 'homosexual tendencies' and' imaginary friends', he says. And he quickly thinks to himself: 'but what? are you crazy And then I realized that's it, I won't get out of here. "

Friends of the young man tried to call journalists and LGBT + activists to get him released, but nothing. The mother prevented a human rights lawyer from visiting her. She did not hesitate to tell Russian media that her son had been rescued from Moscow "gay slavery".

False reports were even made where his story was "confirmed", saying that the teenager had been repeatedly raped, forced to wear women's clothes and take female hormones, and it was only thanks to the efforts of his mother that he had been torn from the grip of pedophiles.

When Egor was forced to give an interview about his ordeal, he tried to talk about his ordeal, but claims reporters cut off any mention of his detention against his will.

In a 'vegetable' state, "I was pushed to the point of cracking by fits, saliva spilling all over the place, I didn't understand where I was," he recalls.

Egor Panin has said over and over again that his mother's version is a lie. However, he was forced to sign a statement that he was a victim of a crime.

In the years that followed, he tried to escape, but each time the commission of inquiry questioned him again, always in relation to the false story.

It is thanks to the advocacy group "Russia Behind Bars" that the young man has now returned to hiding and has finally succeeded in having his mother removed from the list of legal guardians. But nothing is finished: the commission of inquiry refuses to close the case, despite the lack of evidence, according to PinkNews.
