Kick-off in France for the beta of the Google Play Games for PC service. As its name suggests, the latter allows you to play many Android games on a Windows computer.

Google is expanding the beta of its Google Play Games for PC service to New Zealand and 40 European countries including France, Germany, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Great Britain.

Android titles on PC… by the dozen

As reminded The Vergethe arrival of the service in these countries comes after Google had already deployed it in North America (United States and Canada) last November… and this, after an initial deployment in Asia (Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan) from January 2022. In all, the platform now reaches 56 countries.

As a reminder, Google Play Games for PC simply allows you to launch games normally designed for Android on Windows. Not all games from the Play Store are eligible, but a good hundred are currently part of the program. Among them, we can cite [1945AirForceLastFortressAsphalt9BladeIdleCookieRun:Kingdomor Evony: The King’s Return.

Google also specifies that new games are added to the service every month, and that Play Games for PC will be extended to even more countries thereafter.

No need for a big PC to access it

The main interest of Play Games for PC is to be able to run games on low performance Windows PCs. No need to have a graphics card to take advantage of eligible titles, the graphics part of a processor, even an old one, may be sufficient.

Google explains, however, that players with an 8-core CPU and a dedicated graphics card will enjoy a better experience than others, at least on the most demanding Android games in the catalog. The firm recommends, for example, playing on a laptop PC equipped with at least a GeForce MX450 (mainly designed for office automation). What gives us an order of magnitude…

Anyway, here is the minimum configuration revealed by Google:

  • Windows 10 (v2004)
  • SSD storage
  • iGPU Intel UHD Graphics 630 or equivalent GPU
  • Quad core processor
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 10 GB of available storage space

Finally, Google explains that players must use an administrator account in Windows and that hardware virtualization must be activated on your PC. On the other hand, we do not know for the moment when Google intends to launch Play Games for PC in final version. For the moment, the service is only accessible in beta.
