Poor quality photos should soon be a thing of the past on WhatsApp.
While Meta has just presented a brand new section for its WhatsApp application, the famous instant messenger will soon allow you to send photos without concession (or almost).
Soon HD photos in WhatsApp
Several months ago, we told you that the photos in WhatsApp will soon be of much better quality. In Beta 23.4.0.70 on iOS, Teams WABetaInfo had indeed discovered the possibility of sending photos in a quality close to their original quality. At the time of sending, users would therefore have the option of choosing between “Standard quality” and “HD quality”. If you regularly use WhatsApp, you know that the application performs a significant compression of the image when distributing photos.
Good news: things finally seem to be picking up speed when it comes to releasing this new feature in WhatsApp.
Deployment shouldn’t take too long
The website WABetaInfo reported that beta testers on iOS (version 23.11.0.76) and Android (version 2.23.12.13) can now find the option to select the quality of their photos when sending them. This therefore means that it should not take too long before being deployed to all WhatsApp users.
While this feature will significantly improve the quality of your photos on WhatsApp, a slight compression will still be applied. Note also that “Standard Quality” will remain the default option and that you will therefore have to select “HD Quality” each time you wish to send. Finally, when you share media having previously selected the HD option, your recipient can be informed using a small icon located at the bottom left of the image. Now let’s hope that Meta will soon make it possible to do the same with videos…
