Meta adds a shortcut in WhatsApp so you can easily chat with its AI
Last September, the Meta group announced that it was working on the deployment of new features based on generative AI for its instant messaging application. Among them, we then found “Chats with AI”, which, as its name suggests, will allow the more than two billion WhatsApp users around the world to communicate with artificial intelligence.
Like any good self-respecting AI, its mission will be to provide you with advice and suggestions, or to send you information on a very specific subject. After all, why would you communicate with your friends when an AI can be there for you?
If we do not yet know when this AI will be deployed to the general public, the site WABetaInfo informs us that the latest beta update of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.23.24.26) welcomes a new shortcut to start conversations with AI.
When WhatsApp wants to facilitate interactions with AI
As you can easily imagine, this new button will give more visibility to this upcoming feature in WhatsApp. It will then be located just above the icon allowing you to start new conversations, or more precisely in the “Discussions” section of the mobile application.
For now, note that only certain Android beta testers (and in the United States only) can access this new shortcut.
With the launch of its own chatbot in WhatsApp, Meta will follow in the footsteps of My AI, the Snapchat chatbot deployed earlier this year. Finally, remember that Meta’s conversational AI should subsequently be included in Messenger and Instagram.
