First bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps – now the big comeback under new management: young people can really celebrate again in the summer.
A lack of funding, a never-ending dispute with city politicians and a shortened program caused problems for the “Fifty-Twenty” youth festival last year. So much so that the organizer and his club had to file for bankruptcy in September last year. Now it is clear: the bankruptcy did not mean the definitive end of the popular music festival. The series of events is to be continued this year as originally planned – as part of the “Youth Culture Summer 2024”. The youth office of the city of Salzburg has now taken over responsibility and organization. In order to be able to manage the mega festival, they were recently looking for an “experienced and dynamic curator” to support the project. A total of five applicants found themselves suitable for this position and applied. The selection process is currently underway. “It has not yet been decided who will take over the position,” says the city of Salzburg’s youth representative, Lukas Holzmann. In the future, he and the new curator will be responsible for the “Youth Culture Summer 2024”. One thing is already certain: “We want to play the city again at various locations with primarily local live bands.” There will also be a large-scale band and DJ contest and The focus on electronic DJ settings should be the focus of the new edition of the youth festival.
