YouTube has also published its annual review. The top videos 2020 are about Corona, among other things.
The popular video portal YouTube has published a list of the ten most trending clips of the year in Germany. In first place is a video on a topic that shaped the entire world in 2020: the corona pandemic. Science journalist and moderator Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim (33, "Strange, everything is chemical!") Released the clip with the title "Corona is just beginning" at the beginning of April. The video has now been viewed more than 6.4 million times.
Also on the podium are the clips "Men's Worlds – Harassment of Women | Joko & Klaas 15 Minutes Live" and "We'll show you our house | HOUSE TOUR | Bibi". Rezo (28), who took first place last year with his CDU destruction video, is in fourth place with "The Destruction of the Press". "Coronavirus – unnecessary alarm in the event of COVID-19? | Harald Lesch" completes the top five.
Only national calls – between January 1st and November 15th – of videos uploaded in 2020 were evaluated. Music clips, trailers and children's videos are excluded.
Woman power on the one
The best list of the top music videos in Germany is led by a duo of popular rappers. Generally only hip-hop songs are in the top five. The clip for the song "Kein Wort" by Loredana (25) and Juju (28) currently has around 39.6 million views and secures the throne from international competition from Future (37) and Drake (34) with "Life Is Good" . Capital Bra (26) and Loredana follow with "Not earned" on third, fourth place goes to 6ix9ine (24) with "Gooba" and Samras (25) "Weiss" lands on fifth.
YouTube also lists the most successful newcomers on the platform. Varion lands in first place with its comedy content, second place goes to "Thunderstorm in the head – life with Tourette" and the three to "Leeroy wants to know!". There is a special surprise in fourth place with "Ehrenpflaume", Kai Pflaume's (53) channel, on which the TV presenter has only been active since September. Finally, fifth place went to influencer Pamela Reif (24).
Channels with the greatest gain in subscribers in 2020 were evaluated here – with the exception of artists, brands, media companies and children's content.
