Application users Youtube, on iOS, will soon be able to take advantage of the Picture-in-Picture mode. Unfortunately, this one won’t be free for everyone…

Surprisingly, the YouTube app still didn’t have a Picture-in-Picture feature on iOS devices until now. Good news, it is now ancient history. Bad news however, some will have to go to the cash register to benefit from it.

YouTube is rolling out Picture-in-Picture on iOS, but…

On July 11, YouTube proudly announced the arrival of Picture-in-Picture on iOS in a blog post. A feature that was in high demand by iPhone and iPad owners, especially since it was already available on Android devices. On the other hand, there is still eel under rock for those who hoped to enjoy it for free…

Indeed, for some reason that we still don’t know, only the United States will be able to take advantage of this feature for free, with the exception of music videos. This therefore means that for the rest of the countries in the world, including France, you will need to have a premium subscription to have access to the Picture-in-Picture function for all types of content (musical or not).

As a reminder, the YouTube Premium subscription still amounts to 11.99 euros per month. If it grants many advantages, it is only regrettable to note that only the United States can benefit from Picture-in-Picture on iOS, for non-musical content, without having to go through the “subscription” box. Finally, note that your device must be running at least iOS 15 (or iPadOS 15) in order to enjoy YouTube’s picture-in-picture mode.
