YouTube hit auctioned for over $ 760,000

Aside from the hustle and bustle, blockchain adoption is making headway in Austria. Austrian Post’s crypto stamps are becoming more and more sophisticated.

Austrian Post is still on the crypto course. The blockchain-based “Crypto Stamps” launched in 2019 will be in their third edition on May 21 – new functions included.

Crypto Stamp 3.0: NFT meets NFC

As with the previous two editions, the new Crypto Stamps are digital twins. There is exactly one digital counterpart in the blockchain for every analog postage stamp. The digital twin of a crypto stamp is revealed when the owner reads an NFC chip integrated in the brand with his smartphone. The authenticity of the crypto stamps can also be checked using the NFC scan.

While the analog brands are identical to each other, the digital twins come in five colors with different rarities. Anyone who feels reminded of digital collectibles in the form of non-fungible tokens is spot on. The digital twins are ERC-721 tokens, based on Ethereum. This means that they can also be exchanged among users. The analogue stamps have a face value of 9.90 euros and can be used as classic postage stamps. Apparently, the Post has found an off-chain solution to keep the notoriously high transaction fees with Ethereum in check. So it says in the press release that BTC-ECHO has received:

We have also made major improvements to the blockchain technology, which the Crypto Stamp serves as the basis. As a result, the Crypto Stamps transaction can be processed easily and inexpensively between the owners in the future. At the same time, this opens up a broad field of new functions for the future
