YouTube Music: an essential and fun feature is coming to the platform

YouTube Music is starting to play Shazam. Indeed, the music streaming platform has brought audio recognition to its Android application (version 7.02).

According to The Verge, which experimented with the feature, a wave icon appeared next to the microphone icon, to the right of the search bar. By clicking on it, YouTube Music allows you to hum, whistle, sing a melody or listen to the audio recording of a song in order to identify the title.

The journalist of The Verge points out that the application recognized the majority of titles when he sang, whistled or hummed a tune. He still mentions YouTube Music failures, notably when he hummed Tom Waits, They Might Be Giants or Meat Loaf.

He ends by emphasizing that YouTube Music’s music recognition functionality is fast, potentially faster than that built into Google Assistant.
