Dolby Surround 5.1 allows you to enjoy a movie or series with multi-channel audio and is widely used by people with a home cinema. Surround 5.1 is notably available on Netflix, provided of course that you have the appropriate equipment and choose compatible content. YouTube TV, which is currently not available in France, is a Google service that allows you to watch a large number of live TV channels in the United States. 5.1 sound was already offered, but not for everyone.

5.1 sound soon on Android TV and Google TV

We know 5.1 audio is important to many of you, so we wanted to share an update. We’re currently testing 5.1 audio on Google TV, Android TV, and Roku, and if everything runs smoothly, we can expect 5.1 audio to launch on those devices next.

YouTube TV, however, specifies that 5.1 is still not on the program for other platforms such as Apple TV, Fire TV, Xbox or PlayStation. Google’s service says they are still working “internally and with partners” to integrate 5.1. As for the big question of whether YouTube TV will ever reach our lands, it still remains unanswered…
